The Uncomfortable Silence

Hello and I hope everyone is having a great day. Today I’m going to give your Rich’s Tip of the day from Mars Venus Coaching.

I want to talk about the uncomfortable silence from when you ask a question and you get an answer – don’t respond to it right away.

Have that uncomfortable silence in the middle of your conversation. People don’t like the silence. They will “break the silence’ and begin talking. And if you don’t respond to them, they will continue answering you.

It’s a very difficult thing to do, to remain quit and listen to someone. What you’ll find is, being a good listener is one of the most powerful tools you can use to.

By actively listening, you are demonstrating coaching, and that’s really what your clients want from you. It’s not talking to them – it’s listening to them.

Successful coaches have found that client want someone to listen them. That makes them feel good. Practice listening more carefully, don’t respond, and let your the other person in your conversation continue to talk. If you continue giving them “the uncomfortable silence” the more they will continue talking.

By being a good listener, you are demonstrating coaching. The more you demonstrate coaching, the more they like it. Clients are buying your ability to listen – not your ability to talk.
